Hi Vopers.
Welcome to our The Voice Of Peace website. Firstly many thanks to Yaniv for setting it up, cheers mate. It is our plan to bring back “1540 The Voice Of Peace On Line" basically a 24/7 VOP on the net. The aim is to stream 24/7 and try to follow the original programme schedule as close as we can. Already Graham Day has agreed to do Breakfast as long as his BBC bosses don’t mind. Kevin Turner has also agreed to join us, and we hope the legendery DaveAsher. We are also hopeful Dave Richards and Linda Mason will be joining us also. Tami and myself are talking to many other DJ’s also. Yes we have Tami Tzabari on the Launch team, Tami was always our mascot on the ship, now at last she gets to guide The VOP on a new path to sucsses.
So how will it work? Well 1540 The Voice Of Peace will be partly computer generated with generic links from the DJ’s , so not live I’m afraid although never say never, that can happen. The links will be mostly short and are there to give it presentation flavour. You will hear the same links come around again sometimes, but as time goes by, the more we get into the system the less frequent that will happen. New links will be added periodically to keep it fresh, the jingles you know and love will be there, the main ID on the half hour etc. Sadly no news, at least not at first. We will follow a Retro music format of 60’s 70’s and 80’s songs. I hope Country call will emerge in time, Twilight Time, Beatles Hour. No classical show, or International showcase I’m afraid. Some shows will be AS LIVE like The Peace Ship show that I did up untill recently, that will return. We will create the ship in our minds, and if you think about it, as we will not be broadcasting from Israel, just like the ship of old we will be outside Israel beaming in from somewhere (in the Mediterranean) Now we could also have similar problems to that of the ship with breakdowns and things going wrong, not deliberate, but you know what computers are like, they go wrong sometimes, like a radio ship at sea. We hope to start test transmissions in late August. We are looking at late September to launch at least the 24/7 Retro format, adding specialist programes later. The tests will consist of announcements with music and jingles.
The Lauch team will also run the station in the future. Their is on programe controler, no Mr Big, just a dedicated team of people who like you think it’s about time the Voice Of Peace come back, in the 21st century, using modern 21st century technology, but with a sound that will take us back to the good old days, or at least that is the objective.
This is a Retro VOP something that will bring back the feel of those wonderful days when she was at sea, a flavour of how the VOP was once upon a time. Radio Caroline as done it, still going strong, so why not The Voice Of Peace. Let’s go for it and just see what happens, it should be fun.
The team in Israel are Tami Tzabari.and Yaniv Dayan, in the UK Paul Douglas (who will also be our newest DJ) and myself. There are others also helping the Launch team members, I thank each and every one of them. What can you do to help? Spread the word that The Voice Of Peace is making a comeback 24/7. Where is it broadcasting from? Somewhere in the Meditteranian from the (Virtuel) Peace Ship. We will keep you up to date right here on The Voice Of Peace website, which will also be your link to listen to the ship, in hoefully just a few weeks from now. We will keep you up to date the best we can with our progress, and even any set backs, hopefully we won’t have too many of them, but should they occur we will tell you so you know what is going on. You have our assurance that this is a serious attempt to do what should have happened years ago, bring back The Voice Of Peace.
Spread the word Guys. Please tell all VOP fans about our site.
God Bless you Guys, Love & Peace. Doug.
